Douglas Dakota
Experience Jæren and Stavanger from orchestra space — 1000 feet above the ground.

Do you want to see your home, cottage or Jær beaches from a completely new perspective? Join Dakota Norway on an exclusive round trip over the Stavanger area where we fly low, slow and with historic buzz.
Most of us have flown to and from the Sun many times, but then you often rush into the clouds before you have time to see the details on the ground. This trip is something completely different. With our venerable DC-3 Dakota, we take you on a 25-minute time journey in the air, tailored for photography and great natural experiences.
Why this trip is unique? Modern scheduled aircraft fly high and fast. The Dakota is built for a different time. We cruise at a comfortable pace at an altitude of about 1000 feet (about 300 meters) at about 200 km/h. This means that you not only see “landscapes”, but you see houses, boats on the fjord, the waves beating against the beach and maybe even the neighbor mowing the grass.
The route - The best of Rogaland
From departure on the Sola we add up to a round that gives you the cream view of the region (depending on the weather and traffic):
- Beaches: Watch the endless Jær beaches stretch south like a golden ribbon against the North Sea.
- The city: We swing across Stavanger at the outer edge of the city centre and Vågen, where the cruise ships look like toy boats.
- Fjord and mountains: Experience the contrast between the flat Jæren and the mountains to the east as we fly over Gandsfjorden and Hafrsfjord. Maybe we'll catch a glimpse of “Swords in Mountains” from the air?

The Sound of History
It's not just the view that gives goosebumps. The sound of two Pratt & Whitney star engines is music for aviation enthusiasts. Its magnificent wings and steady gait in the air make the Dakota a wonderful platform for sightseeing.
This is a rare opportunity to experience your local area as the birds see it. The tour is suitable for all ages, whether you are a flight enthusiast or just want to have an unforgettable experience.
