P-51D Mustang
Contestant number two is none other than the local, legendary "Miss Rebel".

Biltema Airshow's North American P-51D Mustang is held at Sola on a daily basis, and has become a regular and beloved fixture during both Flydagene, Sola Airshow and Open Hangar.
The Mustang is one of the most iconic fighters of World War II. With its powerful Packard Merlin 1650-9 V12 engine of 1695 hp, top speed around 800 km/h and its distinctive bubble canopy, the P-51D is considered one of the most successful escort fighters ever built.
Over 15,000 P-51s were produced during the war — nearly 8,000 of these were the D model.
A Mustang with an operational history
This model was rebuilt in 1968 by Cavalier Aircraft in Florida. The aircraft received, among other things, upgraded avionics, larger vertical stabilizer, modified canopy and reinforced wings with six hardpoints.
The machine participated in the so-called The Football War in 1969 between El Salvador and Honduras—a brief but historic conflict that lasted four days. Thus, this aircraft represents both World War II and a later era in aviation history.
